Ty Pennington, the 41-year-old host of ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was arrested in LA Saturday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence. Uh. Could they also charge him with driving while being hyper and annoying while they're at it? I could never figure out exactly why this guy bugs me so much until I saw him in an ad for Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder medication, or awareness, or something. Then it was much clearer to me: he has, or thinks he has, ADHD - which gives him free license to be hyper and annoying all the time!*
Pennington released a statement about the arrest in which he apologized to his fans, ABC and his design team for the "mistake".
*Note: No offense meant toward legitimate sufferers of ADHD. I just believe it's over-diagnosed and over-medicated. And if Ty's parlayed it into a television hosting gig, more power to him.

David Hasselhoff's 16-year-old daughter shot video footage of him while he was falling-down drunk which has now been released to the public. In the video, she begs her father to stop drinking or he will be fired from his show. Hasselhoff released a statement to "Entertainment Tonight" saying that he is "a recovering alcoholic" and the "tape was never meant to be made public". Since it has been, here it is. Paris Hilton was arrested early this morning in L.A. on suspicion of drunk driving. She was booked in Hollywood after midnight and released at around 2 am. Her blood alcohol limit was tested in a field sobriety test and was found to be at the minimum level for DUI in California (.08). Hilton's excuse was that she had been shooting a music video all day, hadn't eaten anything, and had had one margarita all night between stops at a charity event, a party, and a club. If convicted, Paris could face license suspension, probation and an alcohol treatment program.
Model Caprice Bourret has been charged with drunk driving in London. Her license was suspended for 12 months, but her lawyer "Mr. Loophole" (Nick Freeman, above) is doing his best to fight the conviction.

I have nothing new to add to this story, which has been covered everywhere. Mel Gibson got really drunk, got arrested for speeding and said some awful things about Jewish people. Now apparently he is entering a program to address his problem with alcohol and has apologized for his statements. I don't know about you, but I don't think he looks too apologetic in his mug shot. Sad, because I can't help but like this guy. I may be the only one who loves the movie 'Signs'.
